Our Programs
Kackaamin offers three distinct programs, each built for a different point in the healing journey. They're not interchangeable and each has its own intake process, focus, and pace. The right starting point depends on where you are right now.

Session Title
A land-based grief and loss program for adults, held on and connected to the natural environment of the Alberni Valley.
Safe Healing Journeys
Respecting where people are at in their recovery, we will provide kind, honest feedback if further preparation for detox, withdrawal management, sobriety and wellness is indicated. This is to support safety for all, especially for people in recovery.
Safe Treatment Planning
Planning for safe treatment is nuanced and often includes assessments. Following these guide rails is imperative to the safety of all involved and the success of our program participants.
- Safety
- For you, for your children.
- Safe detox.
- Your readiness.
- Children are in your care & living with you.
- Suitability
- Group therapy is not for everyone. Sometimes, individual therapy is best suited.
- Kackaamin staff do our best to adapt & meet the care needs of people.
- More complex care is needed (mental health & health).
- Readiness & Safety
- Trauma programs involve heavy emotional work. Learning about parenting is heavy work.
- We ask that people are sober & substance free (including marijuana), are able to focus on the work, and have the strength to return home (to the cabins) at the end of the day to their children.
